I don’t understand what Holger Bech Nielsen, the theoretical physicist, talks about. However, I gladly listened to him talk many years ago. Twice. Why? I am not a physicist. I have not attended any physics classes at school. That doesn’t matter. You don’t need schooling to recognize the barely contained excitement in someone who wants to share ideas. I remember how he could hardly stand still because he was bursting with all that he wanted to tell us. The audience was a group of Mensans at their annual gathering. The location was a campground with barracks owned by some church for their own get-togethers. Holger spoke in the only place available – a whitewashed, wooden church building. He became desperate to draw illustrations of what he was telling us. We could only find some white A4 paper and a purple marker. Volunteers taped the paper to the wall and Holger…

I am about to clean up my notes from all my reboot11 sessions from the past two days. Let’s see what a somewhat good night’s sleep has done for my thoughts. I know it has helped me to function (assisted by some coffee). These notes must get done as soon as possible because they are part of the reboot11 book project. This post is just to ground myself. Later, I know I will be blogging even more personal impressions on these talks because they all affected me very strongly. They revealed possible and necessary road signs for many of the activities in my life right now (such as STC). David Weinberger – think “Cluetrain Manifesto” Francesca Birks – the bottom UP cities Steve Coast – the OpenStreetMap project Andrew Turner…
Comments closedIt’s time to stay indoors on a glorious day and geek out over WordPress. Yay! WordPress DK has the announcement and program, but you have to go to Upcoming to register. Don’t be shy if you are a non-Danish-speaking WordPress fan in the neighborhood that day. The announcement might be in Danish, but everyone can speak English. Blog, tweet, spread the word. These get-togethers are an excellent support for WordPress users. For those reading this from a location too far away to make attendance possible, have you considered starting your own meetup for your area? Saying it’s worth it is a bit of an understatement. Try it!
